Tech entrepreneurs – have you got The X Factor?

Rumours are circling that Simon Cowell and Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.i.am are working on a tech version of The X Factor. According to reports, the duo are planning a new reality show aimed at discovering the next Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gates.

Will.i.am is certainly no stranger to techies across the globe. A well-known gadget and technology fan and having been made director of creative innovation by Intel in 2011, the rapper also launched his own non-profit organisation i.am.angel in order to help transform lives through “education, opportunity and inspiration”. At the time he said that he hoped the scheme would help find a new Bill Gates – with media mogul Cowell backing him, it could soon be a reality.

So, what do we think? Quoted by The Sun, Will.i.am actually offered some wise words – “Singing and performance create a couple of jobs. But this will create lots” – and we’ve ‘Gotta Feeling’ he could be right (excuse the terrible pun).

X Factor winners come and go with a steady stream of pretty shitty singles and albums. That’s where tech is oh so different – one idea could impact the way we live our lives forever.

We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more deets.
