Microsoft’s Big Plans

Microsoft SmartwatchThe latest contender to emerge in the race for future tech dominance is computing giant Microsoft. The American company have been hotly tipped to produce a revolutionary smartwatch after a report from The Wall Street Journal mentioned that they are working on a touchscreen watch device.

Microsoft have apparently been supplied with components for watches as well as 1.5-inch displays, although are yet to confirm whether there are definite plans to make the device open to the market. Microsoft had previously been involved with watches, dating back to the SPOT-powered devices in the early 2000s, but didn’t last too long.

Its just a matter of time before we see the next step in technology, with Pebble already releasing its smartwatch earlier this year and the big release planned for Google Glass upcoming, wearable technology is obviously the where the future lies.

As well as the watches currently being produced, it is also thought that Microsoft could be in the process of developing a smartphone, in an attempt to storm the market. The company have previously worked with Nokia whilst working on its Windows Phone platform. We imagine that this is a ploy to try and tackle the other market leaders like rival Apple.
