Samsung launches innovative handset with curved display screen

Samsung Galaxy RoundSamsung have managed to jump the gun on other competitors by being the first smartphone manufacturer to produce a curved screen handset. The electronics giant, which currently produce the worlds, best selling smartphones, have responded to competitor LG, who announced they would begin production of curved screen phones next year.

The handset, which will be known, as the Galaxy Round will feature a 5.7in display and Samsung are claiming that the curvature of the display will allow consumers better use of features when the phones home screen is off. The Galaxy Round will initially be launched in South Korea only, and the global launch is yet to be announced.

Samsung and rival LG have both been pushing towards curved digital displays for some time now, both releasing OLED television sets, therefore coming at no surprise they are the two front runners bringing this technology to mobile.

Due to the enormous growth and popularity of the smartphone market, manufacturers have been investing a lot of revenue into what could potentially be a game changer and win them a larger percentage of the market. A huge interest also lies in the possibilities of curved displays, therefore it made sense eventually to merge the two together, however many experts do not believe the introduction to smartphones will dramatically effect consumer purchase.
